Accessible Design

This site employs many features to make information more accessible:

• All images have text alternates (ALT attributes)
• Pages are organized to be fully functional, even with javascript turned off
• Text sizes can be enlarged and reduced (see instructions below)
• The site can be navigated without the use of a mouse (see instructions below)
• Page formatting is done with CSS not tables to ensure that the semantic structure of the information is preserved
• All pages are designed with separate cascading style sheets, so they can be replaced by user-defined style sheets

General Accessibility

This website has been designed and developed to be accessible in accordance with W3C guidelines using XHTML markup and CSS styling. Should your browser not be able (or set) to render CSS the content is still readable.

Text Sizes

You can make the text either bigger or smaller to suit you. We have included a facility to adjust this sites text as you view it.

How you change the default size of text as it is displayed depends on your computer and the web browser you're using. This is how to change the text size in the most commonly used browsers:

PCs

• If you've got Internet Explorer, go to "View" on the top menu bar of the browser, scroll down and select "Text Size", then choose the size you need.
• If you're using Netscape, Mozilla or Firefox, go to "View" in the top bar, select "Text Zoom" or "Text size" and choose the size you need.

Macs

• In Netscape or Internet Explorer, go to "View" in the top bar, then select "Text Zoom" or "Text size" and choose the size you need.
• In Safari go to "View" in the top bar of the browser, then choose "Make text bigger" or "Make text smaller" in the dropdown menu.

You can navigate the menu and sidebar of this site using access keys.

How to use Access Keys

This depends on your operating system and the type and version of your browser:

PC running Windows using Internet Explorer v5+:
Press and hold the ALT key, press the Access Key and then press ENTER.

PC running Windows using Internet Explorer v4.x:
Press and hold the ALT key, press the Access Key of your choice.

PC running Windows using Firefox:
Press and hold the SHIFT + ALT key, then press the Access Key of your choice.

Macintosh computers:
Press and hold Control and then press the Access Key.

Please note that Access Keys are not supported by Opera or earlier versions of the above web browsers.
